Junior Officer Youth
P.C. Dale Corra also saw a need for continuing to challenge this long time connected inner city youth group with a further program called Junior Officers. This program is targeting the youth (five Platoons, 20-30 kids) to have a little better understanding of how the Toronto Police Service procedurally operates. A brief example of a monthly meeting would be the dynamics that surround the reporting of a lost child in the inner city community. The Junior Officers of one platoon would take the necessary information and the other platoons would be parents or possible witnesses or disgruntled bystanders perhaps. The Police officers create various scenarios that are role played out to give the children a brief understanding of report taking while exposing them to what our officers may face, on their day-to-day patrols etc. The role-playing and scenarios are always changed at every monthly meeting
The organization of these platoons and practised skills are invaluable when all our various youth program kids are attending on an all group field trip.
(Ie; 208s are written and filled out by the attending youth on the day of the excursion with complete names, addresses, contact numbers ,and description to assist the Police in the event of a mishap or lost youth etc.)
We even made our own logo for our group as you see below.
